Corporate Social Responsibility

The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has in place a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy that guides it in making positive contribution to the country’s underprivileged communities and people.

According to the CSR policy, the GMB is committed to “behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.

The GMB team, from the shop floor level to the executive management and the board, realise that they all have a part to play in changing the lives of some people in Zimbabwe. It is in this vein that employees donate in cash and kind to the CSR activities that the parastatal undertakes.

To ensure sustainability of the project a CSR fund was established in 2012 were the organisation holds fundraising initiatives such as the annual charity ball with proceeds directed to different charity institutions that the organisation works with.

In 2013, 10 different institutions benefited from the $30 000 raised during the inaugural GMB charity ball which was held on 07 December 2012. Every year, more beneficiaries are shortlisted to benefit from the fund.

GMB CSR theme OUR COMMUNITIES, OUR RESPONSIBILITY continues to be the driving force behind its efforts of making a positive contribution to our nation.
